  • The Austin Graffiti Park is a grand spot if you are looking for something to do on a beautiful day. If you are a photographer, an art enthusiast or if you like to look at weird art and graffiti work, this is the place to go to. This site is a must-see as either a local or a tourist. It is funky, assorted, and sort of a free outdoor art gallery in itself. It’s a great spot to see Austin’s skyline too.
  • Watch live bats coming out of the Congress Street Bridge and flying in thousands, out at dusk. Early summer is the ideal time for viewing the bats. The best place to see them is on the SoCo side of the bridge where you can sit down on the grass.
  • If you enjoy history, architecture, and have time, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum is a great stop! Be sure to get there for the guided tour which truly enhances the experience, and of course, it is absolutely free! The tour lasts for about an hour and is very informative.The grounds inside and out is very well maintained.
  • East Sixth Street by night gets jubilant with the bars brimming with dancing coeds and live music that oozes out of every third or fifth avenue. A night of carousing can inflame the appetite, and Austin has the resolutions for that too with 24-hour diners like Kerby Lane and Katz’s.

  • The Hill Country Flyer is a steam powered excursion train. On weekends visitors can take a scenic trip on this historic train through the surrounding hill country. A shorter option is a ride on the Bertram Flyer which takes visitors to the Bertram station for a quick tour, and then returns.
